OUR MISSION: To rescue, rehabilitate, and train homeless, neglected, seized, & slaughter-bound equines; that will in time be adopted out to a loving family and lifelong home; where they will be able to live out their life in a loving, caring and healthy environment. As a part of our organization, we are here to help adopters with their newly adopted rescue together as a team. Lastly to help educate the public about equine neglect & abuse, and inhumane treatment of equines sold for meat at many auction sale barns, the inhumane transporting of "kill" horses & other equines, and inhumane & unregulated slaughtering of them.

“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”
- Albert Einstein

Our next Volunteer Day will be held on June 8, 2013.

Meet Laz...

Meet Laz... He was starved and living in a dog kennel. Days away from dying. He had no food, no water, no shelter. He was standing in an 6'x8' dog kennel in 6 in. of mud; his hooves were rotting off his feet. Laz was so mentally distrought he was windsucking to pass time. His living area was so small he could barely lay down, he could not move but only a few steps. Blue Ridge Rescue saved him. Blue Ridge worked for over 1 week trying to get the Sheriff Dept. and public to act to help save Laz, Pepper (another pony living at the same residence in a dog kennel), and a baby lamb (now named Yam) who was 8 weeks old and starved as well, there were other animals on the property that did not survive. Blue Ridge Rescue needs your support to help continue to save lives... like Laz. Please help our mission by donating to our cause. Blue Ridge Rescue has no paid employees and is 100% volunteer ran.
