SUGAR'S AFTER PHOTOS
Sugar's Last Ride - as a healthy and happy horse.
Rescue Sugar lost her fight to Cancer today and peacefully passed away. In Memory of Sugar. (Sugar was rescued after suffering a long time from neglect with a large tumor on her behind area, Blue Ridge had 3 surgeries done to try and save her but today she lost her fight and now rests in peace.) If anyone is interested in making a donation to help pay for Sugar's past vet bills from those operations please go to our donate button or send check to PO BOX 203 Blue Grass Iowa 52726. We were hoping for the best but unfortunately a different set of plans were laid out for her. She was a pleasure to have at our place and brought smiles to everyone, we just wish she could had been with us longer. She will be truly missed.
Rest In Peace Sugar.

Buster Before & After
Buster was bought not once, not twice but 3 times at Auction and was intended to fatten up by a trader and taken back to Auction AGAIN for meat price. Buster is only 1 year old. He was injured during a trailer ride from an Auction Barn after being loaded on with cattle - Luckily for Buster Blue Ridge was called when the trader thought we would BUY Buster from them! He was surrendered over because the trader refused to pay for Vet care. We were able to save Buster & his leg and now he will have a CHANCE at a new life in a lifelong home!
He will never go to another Auction Barn again!

After 6 weeks (Photo on Right) Buster's leg is almost healed!

After 6 months Buster's leg was healed and he was adopted into a lifelong home!
Had Blue Ridge not been there for Buster, Buster would had died within 2 days.
Buster is now adopted and living a very nice life being ridden weekly!

After Only Several Weeks.

Meet Queenie & Thunder...
These 2 horses were finally surrendered over to a Sheriff's department in Iowa after very long efforts by Blue Ridge pushing to save them... we got these two rescued however 3 others died; a full term expecting mare with a 3 month old nursing foal and a yearling colt. These two are alive, fed, and warm now at Blue Ridge. We drove 2 hours to save these horses from dying of starvation and dehydration. They had no food and no water anywhere on the property. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ
In Memory Of Sharon K. Gerot
http://www.tributes.com/show/91368932
Sharon was murdered by her fiance Thomas Hansen of Riverside Iowa.
http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/Riverside-Man-Charged-with-Murder-Following-Shooting-Death-121088069.html
Blue Ridge Rescue was called after the death of Sharon Gerot to help in taking her 3 loved horses that were left behind after her murder. Sharon dearly cared for horses Molly (Belgian), Jubilee (QH/Morgan Cross) and Marque (Paint QH). These horses are now residing at our facility waiting for a new lifelong owner to step in a take responsibility for them providing the same LOVE and LIFE Sharon provided for them. Jill (Sharon's daughter) would like them to stay together if possible, they have owned these horses since they were babies, now ages 16, 20, and 25. However she did say she wants what is best for them and knows that if separating them will get them lifelong homes then that is what will be done.
We told Jill we (BRR) are more than willing to collect donations for her family through this hard time, Jill (being the sweet and generous lady she is) requested that all donations be sent to Blue Ridge Rescue at PO BOX 203 Blue Grass Iowa, to help pay for Sharon's horses. She said if people are interested in helping to please in Sharon's name send funds to help in the caring for/of her animals. Blue Ridge also took in Sharon's parrot named Lily and by Jill's request will be lifelong permanent member of the Blue Ridge Family.
Please read the links above about this horrible and tragic death of Sharon Gerot. If you are able to help please contact Blue Ridge Rescue. Please note the Jill and her sister (Sharon's 2nd daughter) is going through a time of mourning so please respect their privacy and space. She has not had much time to mourn due to the responsibilities of dealing with the funeral and estate. Jill and her sister had also lost their younger sister in this same area to a car accident several years ago.
They have been through a lot and it means a lot to them to find lifelong homes for these horses that they all loved dearly. They used these horses during their childhood years for riding in shows and for fun. They all 3 are well broke and safe for just about anyone. Molly the Belgian does drive also and won several blue ribbons. We will post pictures as soon as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please send prayers for Jill and her sister and the rest of the friends and family who are mourning over this tragic situation.
